Surgeons

Imagine a community created by orthopaedic trauma surgeons for orthopaedic trauma surgeons. Imagine a place where physicians can collaborate on cases and share information with their peers located anywhere – quickly, easily, and securely - in a HIPAA compliant environment.

TraumaConnect is that community.

TraumaConnect is being used to share information on complicated cases at such institutions as the Kern Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Hospital, UC Davis, UC Irvine and Stanford Medical Center. TraumaConnect is simple and intuitive to use. Best of all, it is web-based and accessible from anywhere - including the ER.

TraumaConnect Platform

Based on the successful Syndicom SpineConnect community (now boasting more than 900 spine surgeon members), TraumaConnect is a free web based service that allows orthopedic surgeons to share their knowledge, experiences, and insight on difficult trauma cases with colleagues around the world. Using Syndicom's widely embraced collaborative platform, surgeons post and respond to cases within the worldwide orthopedic surgeon community.

TraumaConnect is simple and intuitive to use. It allows physicians to enter key information quickly and easily, such as injury detail and type, pertinent positives, demographic data, associated data. Plus, they can attach images (such as X-ray, MRI, or CT) -- all in one easy step. What’s more, because it’s Web-based, TraumaConnect is accessible anytime and from anywhere – including the ER. TraumaConnect users can review cases 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – even from a Blackberry – so they can get answers to emergent cases right away.

With TraumaConnect, physicians can collaborate with trusted colleagues and still tap into the collective wisdom of the entire orthopedic trauma community. They can also exchange new ideas and collaborate through interactions and discussions, meet new orthopedic surgeons, discover areas of mutual interest, and even work together to launch research studies or other programs.

Most importantly, TraumaConnect supports those who treat over 90% of the musculoskeletal injury cases. Indeed, statewide trauma systems in sparsely populated states rely heavily on these surgeons to treat injured patients with rapid triage, resuscitation, stabilization, and transport to a referral center.

Through the TraumaConnect platform, general orthopedic surgeons can overcome challenges experienced in areas without trauma centers to improve patient outcomes through collaboration.

TraumaConnect Sustainable Healthcare Fellowships

Syndicom is committed to supporting orthopedic trauma surgeons who participate in global outreach programs to eliminate the inequities of fracture care throughout the world.

To that end, Syndicom has created TraumaConnect Sustainable Healthcare Fellowships. Surgeon members can create communities on the TraumaConnect platform to support ongoing collaboration between visiting surgeons and local healthcare professionals.

TraumaConnect ResearchEdge Private Network

TraumaConnect ResearchEdge PN is a unique web-based tool for conducting case-based research. ResearchEdge PN provides a secure environment to efficiently gather, compile, and analyze case data from multiple research centers. It is built on the intuitive TraumaConnect platform to create a powerful edge for conducting case-based research.

ResearchEdge PN uses Syndicom's proven collaboration methodology to provide an effective infrastructure for streamlining case-based studies across clinical sites. Research cases are submitted through TraumaConnect's intuitive Case Wizard, already familiar to TraumaConnect members. Easy to use, robust research forms collect demographic and diagnostic data, image study data, and patient assessment scores.

Follow-up assessments and images are collected with each case. Forms and follow-up periods can be quickly customized to meet specific needs, including prospective and retrospective studies. Data can be exported in Excel, database and XML formats for further analysis. ResearchEdge PN stores all collected information in a highly secure environment for future refererence.

With ResearchEdge you can use the power of TraumaConnect to recruit, enroll and notify study participants, gather cases, view and export data - all with a click of the mouse. There is no need to track down surgeons, sort through FedEx packages, or collect faxes. Instead, ResearchEdge streamlines and accelerates the process of compiling, managing and exporting research data, resulting in superior data collection and lower costs.
